Shopify
Planned / unverified
Documented install path; not yet tested by NOSA. Depends on a theme that exposes a footer Custom Liquid block.
What is documented
Assisted placement in a theme whose footer accepts a Custom Liquid block: duplicate the theme, preview the copy, then publish it. A theme app extension with an inline footer block is a later phase and does not exist yet.
What has not been tested
NOSA has not yet installed LinkShare on a test Shopify site. This page is built from the platform's own documentation and NOSA research checked October 16, 2026. Treat each step as documented, not confirmed.
Before you start
- A Shopify store you own, with admin access to the Online Store.
- A theme whose footer accepts a Custom Liquid block. This is theme-dependent; it is not true of every Online Store 2.0 theme.
- Your installation snippet from the LinkShare dashboard, available after ownership verification.
Caveats
- Footer block availability depends on the theme. Do not assume all Online Store 2.0 themes offer it.
- Shopify is deprecating the API-managed script tag facility: per the schedule in NOSA research dated 2026-10-16, create and update calls error from 2026-10-01 and injection stops 2027-03-01. That concerns apps that inject scripts through the API. A snippet you paste into your own theme is a different mechanism, and LinkShare does not use the script tag facility. Confirm current dates with Shopify.
- Switching themes removes the footer block. Repeat the check after any theme change or theme update.
- A Shopify app with a theme app extension is planned for later. It does not exist yet and will need Shopify review before general release.
Removal
- Open the theme editor, delete the Custom Liquid block from the footer, then save and publish.
- If you published a duplicate theme, confirm the block is gone from the theme that is now live.
- Pausing the installation in the LinkShare dashboard hides the box without editing the theme.
